Pride 2026

So it’s Pride again, and naturally the bigots want to come out and trash it because they fear that somehow or some other, heterosexuality will become “illegal”, and so on. I don’t know why people are so afraid of homosexuality, lesbianism, gay men, bisexual people, or even trans people. It’s become just so annoying and stupid (there’s a word for that level, but I’ll refrain from it, because I was in a generation where it was acceptable to say it, but not now) that I think that people need to get a grip on reality, because we can’t leave the planet, and we gotta live with each other anyway. So do I expect bigots to realize that their sacred “masculinity” or “femininity” isn’t going to be affected? Probably not. Continue to whine and cry about a phenomenon that can only be stopped by not having kids. Don’t want an LGBTQIA+ “problem”? Just have protected sex, and use birth control. It’s that simple.
But throughout the expansion of humankind from the first days of life and living, everybody has to have some problem with the phenomenon of a gay or lesbian, or bisexual person. Like, who cares? Even before I came out as trans in 2016, the only “incident” was a gay guy in DC asking me on a date. I politely refused, and nothing else happened after that; I never saw him again. I mean, I was accused of being gay in the military, with me famously being clowned on by my chain of command of being into men, and they clowning on me about that. I think for the record that I probably looked feminine, or had some attribute (I don’t talk about my personal life, so that may be a factor), and have largely been “straight”, as a cis male could be. I was never excited about sex, tried it, and felt weird about it, so maybe they thought I was “gay” because I didn’t mouth off about some sexual conquest or something, never really was told why they thought I was, just made fun of me.
Since coming out as trans, well, I’m more of a transbian than into men. I may be bi, but who knows? But the issue is of the bigotry of Pride, and that was what I intended to write about in this blog entry. Anyway, the whole concept of “they’re coming to make us gay” is patently absurd, and frankly, in my whole 50 years, I have been sent to my home by LGBTQIA+ missionaries. That’s the Mormons to do, and Jehovah’s Witnesses to do, never some lesbian or gay dude saying I would “go to hell if you didn’t make love to a man as a man.” Or some schtick. My other complaint is the “groomer” ideology, where we’re accused of trying to rape kids and so on, for our sexual deviancy. Statistics show that Republican men and some women, and churchgoers, routinely assault kids, and even our president, who is the least devout, rapes kids, too. But the Right likes to castigate us as the “bad ones” when their sins eclipse ours. I’m sorry, I didn’t think the first thing when I realized I was trans, want to have sex with a kid, and continue to not want to have sex with a kid as I continue my transition in peace.
And as a veteran, I get annoyed when supporters or veterans, who should know better, add to the echo chamber of the bigotry of anti-LGBTQIA+ people. Some have complained, whined, and lost their minds that “Veterans don’t get a month, only Pride does, what about them?” We get May (Military Appreciation Month) and November as veteran-led months in the year. Plus, we get a specific day (yes, I know, after the USMC birthday), November 11, when we all celebrate, in our own ways, what it means to serve in the US military. The recent trans ban (and so far reversal in some cases) is another sign of bigotry, where trans servicemembers are treated as “unable to perform their duties.” And according to the most morally bankrupt person in the world, “unlikeable people, and lie and do bad things”, even though they served honorably in a large part. But the inability to move on (when we’re told to move on from things, while they berate us about stuff like Benghazi, or whatever is the flavor of the month to them) shows the lack of intelligence that is the conservative movement, yet causes Grindr to malfunction during events like CPAC and such. It’s galling to know that the same people who hate you do the same thing to each other.
But for the most part it’s the same yelling, same comments that just gets you annoyed more or less, and tired of the ignorance that comes with people who are just dumb. It’s a weary day listening and reading the dumb comments from bigots who just don’t want to grow and be better, like their ignorance is their shield from the “nasty gay/Black/whomever” life that the Internet was supposed to upend. We had ignorance before the internet, and we still have current ignorance about the most basic stuff, and makes you wonder how they even survive on that ignorance. I can’t expect people to like LGBTQIA+ people, that’s a fallacy that I don’t believe, as hate is too easy for some to work out and so on, so we gotta fight with it each day in the trenches of being intelligent and more aware than your typical bigot. Remember, their stupidity is their problem, but unfortunately, they make it ours. I don’t think that people will figure it out, because they probably don’t want to, and that’s what’s worrying in this day and age.
