Demoralized 250

Despite the title of this possibly short blog, it’s refreshing to know that Trump, in a way, keeps letting us down day by day. The “State Fair” that he touted has been a total failure. Only if Biden (or Obama) were still president might it have gone the same way, to be fair. The heat is the issue, but the “Freedom 250” org had some glaring missteps that, well, should have been accounted for. Such as overpriced food and water, the inability to bring a simple cooler (which isn’t hard to clear with security) to keep your fluids cool while you sweat in the sun, and the boring booths that were on display. I think, though, that many of the states that pulled out wouldn’t have if Obama or Biden were in charge. It would be about the country, and not some bogus MAGA rally-esque thing. There was no coordination, and the booths, from what I see, aren’t that populated anyway.

I mean the heat was a factor, and frankly it was good to see that they did exhibit some common sense in the heat wave to close it down until a certain time. As I write this on the 4^th of July, the 250th anniversary of America is something to look at through a different lens than the fake patriotism that the right-wingers tend to portray, saying they care about the country while destroying it. I’m sorry, but how are the Democrats “destroying this country” when they want things provided to people that should be taken care of. The second Trump administration has done nothing to demoralize the country; we’re not as proud of it as we once were. Only the fake patriotism of the Right shows its dark underbelly, and shows that going backward isn’t the right direction. I mean, I kinda made fun of Obama's “Forward” message, but as I grew up, I found it mesmerizing. He got us and knew that we need to look at our past and move forward, rather than trying to bring back racism and hate to a decent country.

I think that some people love a country more by fighting for it. And while the Dems have slowly shaken off their funk, more or less, we’re not moving forward at all. We seem to think that the Boomer era was the “best,” and I see Facebook pages inundated with posts about “looking back at yesteryear.” I mean, the 70s and 80s produced some good, timeless music that still rocks my soul when I listen to it. Life was admittedly simpler back then, and things were obviously different than now. Now is not the time to harken back to the “Good old days” and move forward with things. It's nowhere near beneficial, as the lyric in a Metallica song goes: “Moving backward instead of forward is absurd”. And it is; we’re not moving anywhere near where other countries are doing. They’re adapting to the world as it develops, while Trump is stuck in the past, with the obvious references to the 2020 election, which to this day was a fair election, only he doesn’t want to admit that he lost, and sending 250 FBI members on a wild Goose chase isn’t going to solve anything, just wasting our time and money on something that should be long and forgotten about.

But what direction are we really heading? Nowhere, that’s where. We’re not improving anything, just terminating things and destroying people’s lives because you’re a chickenshit coward who believes in somebody who doesn’t exist (Christian Nationalism). I’m sick of the religious overtones, I’m sick of the incompetence, I’m sick of the abject stupidity that has demoralized this country and prop it up to the greatness before Trump 1.0, and now 2.0. It’s sickening to think that people like where we’re at, and think that Trump is the best president, when he’s categorically worse than his previous term. Which goes to show that authoritarianism doesn’t have a place in the United States. I think the system, while not perfect, is showing that what the Founding Fathers intended works to a degree. He has no control over the courts, which have been the key element in determining a lot of people’s faith, and slowing down the abject fascism that Trump wants. He said he would be a dictator Day 1, and he is that, trying to expand his power (and with the current Supreme Court, getting that). But then he gains over 2 billion, while we’re all worried about our paychecks and so on. That’s not leadership; that’s just bullshit, and I’m quite sure that somebody on the right will try to do something, maybe. I don’t advocate violence, but if some nutjob manages to kill him, I won’t shed a tear. I can’t GoFundMe for his lawyers, but as said, I won’t feel any sorrow for Trump’s death, more or less the death of an abusive parent who thinks he’s God or something.
