This was better than Book 2, in terms of action and other aspects. What I do like about this series is the realism, which I need to incorporate into my stories in the future, honestly. I like the fact that nothing goes right for the MC, and that it's in a realistic manner of somebody who is serving in the military. Heroic of course, but Rev is pretty much a problem maker, but manages to do the right thing, even if the commandant in the book has some negative feelings about it. As the series goes along, it does show the complexities of serving with women, men, and love relationships, and how war brings them together. I always thought that Tomiko and Rev are a "thing", but there's another woman, and it kinda goes with how I've dealt with romantic relationships in the past, so it's a good story nonetheless. 5 out of 5 stars.
